The personal experiences of Queen Alexandra soldiers in the Second World War. Thousands of young women were put through tough training regimes and shipped out to share the harsh conditions of the fighting soldiers, yet their stories remain largely untold. Over 400 nurses died, torpedoed in hospital ships, bombed in field hospitals or murdered in Japanese prison camps, while only 2 dozen were awarded medals.
